Supporting emotional growth through play

Nurturing Minds Play Therapy offers a warm, safe, and child-centred therapeutic space where children are supported to express themselves through play, their natural language. Sessions are child-led and non-directive, allowing children to explore their thoughts, feelings, and experiences at their own pace.
Based in Hampshire, Nurturing Minds Play Therapy is fully insured with Protectivity Insurance and registered with the ICO. I am a member of Play Therapy UK as a trainee play therapist and I hold an Enhanced DBS certificate. Nurturing Minds Play Therapy supports children and families across the local area, including Surrey and West Sussex, and can also work with families in neighbouring counties such as East Sussex and Berkshire. Please feel free to get in touch to discuss availability within your local area.
A range of play therapy resources and creative media are offered within sessions, including sand play, clay, art, role play, and storytelling. Through this therapeutic process, children are supported in making sense of their world and developing emotional resilience in a way that feels safe and meaningful to them.
With a strong foundation in early years education, I bring a deep understanding of child development, communication, and emotional expression. This background supports my ability to recognise and attune to the subtle ways children communicate their inner experiences, particularly when words are difficult to find.
At Nurturing Minds Play Therapy, each session is grounded in Play Therapy UK principles, combining therapeutic insight with a developmentally informed approach. This ensures a compassionate, ethical, and effective framework that supports children’s emotional wellbeing and individual therapeutic journeys.

Play therapy offers children a safe way to be understood. When children are struggling emotionally, they don’t always have the words to explain how they feel. Through play, children can express worries, fears, and experiences in a way that feels natural and familiar. Play therapy supports children to feel heard, build emotional resilience, and develop healthier ways of understanding themselves and their relationships.
Sessions are child-led and non-directive, meaning each child is free to choose how they play and what they bring into the session. There is no pressure to talk, explain, or behave in a particular way. Instead, I follow the child’s lead, offering a consistent, accepting, and emotionally safe relationship where the child remains in control of their own therapeutic journey.
This approach allows children to explore their inner world at their own pace, helping them to process experiences in a way that feels right for them. Over time, children often develop increased self-confidence, emotional awareness, and coping skills that support their wellbeing both inside and outside of the therapy room.
